Today our goal is to go to Ximengding shopping district, which is a popular area among young people and tourists. But first, lunch! Wade and Claire took us to Dong Yi Pork Chop, one of the original and probably the oldest pork chop restaurant. The owner is a collector so all the decorations in the restaurants are from his personal collection. He collects a variety of items, such as sculptures, paintings, old currencies, gem stones, and pretty much whatever you can think of. The pork chops were awesome!!! The food is very authentic!
We then went to a store called "Animate." Catherine spent quite some time in this store. There are lots of comics but since they are either in Chinese or Japanese, we didn't even try to look at them. Just the amount of accessories and stationary kept Catherine busy. She bought items from Hatsune Miku (初音), Demon Slayer (鬼滅之刃), Naruto (火影忍者), Jujutsu Kaisen (咒術迴戰), and lots more that I have to Google to list. So Catherine's shopping spree started here.
When we stepped out of the store, it started to rain. Wade took the boys to play pool to wait the rain out. Claire took Catherine and I to NET. The storm went on for a while so we shopped at NET for a while as well.
Then just on the way to get the boys from the pool place, we got some tea to drink and also shopped for half a dozen pairs of earrings! Our last stop before the pool place was the Popmart Flagship store! On my goodness! All the blind boxes were half the price of what we have in Texas! So of course, Catherine is going to look for her favorite characters. She got 10 blind boxes from Popmart!
I wasn't very happy that the boys wanted to play pool so much. It is something we can do in the states as well, why flew all the way over to Taiwan to spend time playing it? But James said it is A LOT cheaper to play here so he actually wanted to play more to get better while he can. I guess he has a point?!
Our last stop of the day was Wan Nian Building. It was not my intention to make this our last stop, but once the boys went in, there was no seeing them again! It's kinda like "the Land of Toys" in Pinocchio!
There were so many little stores that sell packs of Pokemon cards that I think the boys stopped at every single one of them then evaluated on which store to buy their packs of cards from. It was worse then girls buying shoes... it took them forever and they didn't even want dinner (what?!)!
By the time we left the building, the boys were so beat that they didn't want to walk around and experience Ximending at all so we got on the MRT and came home.
